License of metis
Hello,
Christophe Trophime and I are currently packaging Code Aster [1] from
EDF [2] into Debian and Ubuntu. Code Aster is a free software released under the GPL license.
One of the dependency of Code Aster is a modified version of Metis
called metis-edf.
We uploaded the package into the Debian archive but the inclusion has
been rejected because there is the following line, in the license file:
One may make copies of the software for their use provided that the
copies, are not sold or distributed, ...
However, this contradicts:
http://glaros.dtc.umn.edu/gkhome/metis/metis/faq?q=metis/metis/faq#distribute
Which one is the right one ? (we do need to be able to redistribute
metis or the EDF version).
If I may, can I ask if you considered using a "standard" license ? If you are not familiar, I can help you in this jungle.
Regards,
Sylvestre
