AFGen: Fragment-based Descriptors for Chemical Compounds

AFGen is currently distributed in a binary format with executables for Linux.

Getting the files
The first step in getting and using AFGen is to download the binary distribution file. AFGen's distribution is available as either a gziped tar file or as a zip file.
Available files for download
Latest release (2.0.0):
afgen-2.0.0.tar.gz (1MB) Linux (i686/x86_64)
afgen-2.0.0.zip (1MB) Linux (i686/x86_64)

Older versions of AFGen can be found here.

Installing
On Unix systems, after downloading AFGen you need to uncompress and untar it. This is achieved by executing the following command:
gunzip afgen-2.0.0.tar.gz

tar -xvf afgen-2.0.0.tar

On Windows systems, you need to have a zip/unzip program (e.g., winzip) in order to unzip the files. In general, you just need to double click on "afgen-2.0.0.zip" and the file will be unzipped automatically.

At this point you should have a directory named afgen-2.0.0. This directory contains AFGen's stand-alone programs, its documentation, and a sample dataset.

Documentation
Instructions describing how to use AFGen can be found at afgen-2.0/doc/index.html. You can access a local copy of this documentation here.
